Hiya! I’m Annie
I have been ‘Chef-ing’ up a storm at SCCC since 2010 after the birth of my daughter Libby. I come from Ireland and came to Australia in 2001. I’m always keen to learn new skills and best practice through continual professional development and training.
I believe that a good start in life is so important. I consider my role at SPCCC is to provide healthy nutritious meals using fresh ingredients in a safe and hygienic environment. The service offers long day care to children aged 6 months to 6 years and has a strong emphasis on providing 50% of the child’s nutritional daily intake; as recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council, along with the Department of Health and Nutrition Australia.
I support the evidence that providing healthy nutrition food enhances and stimulates children’s growth and brain development, “food for thought”. I cater for each child’s individual dietary needs and requirements through close liaison with parents, guardians and educators. I offer a wide variety of food, and our menus and recipes are developed in accordance with up to date research and best practice guidelines.
I encourage healthy eating by being a good role model, and support my team members in this goal. I encourage the children to engage in fun activities involving food. I ensure the food practice provided by the service is continually assessed and updated against the standards required of the National Quality Framework, to identify and implement quality improvements.
